17 Ann Barker Tracy passed away peacefully in her own home on November 14th, 2005, after a battle with cancer. She was born January 17, 1933, in Elba, Idaho, the eldest child of A. Malbourn and Gladys E. Tucker Barker. She was educated at Elba Elementary, Albion High School, and received her Associates Degree in Business from Idaho State University.
Mom was sealed for time and all eternity to her high school sweetheart, C. Larry Tracy, in the Salt Lake Temple on April 26, 1956. Upon Dad's graduation from law school, he entered military service in January, 1960 and together they traveled the world. They were stationed in Germany, Virginia, California, Colorado, Okinawa, Hawaii, New Jersey and Arizona. Mom was an invaluable asset to Dad's military career. She participated in Officers' Wives Club activities, providing charitable service on military posts worldwide. Upon Dad's retirement from the military they moved to Provo, Utah, to be close to their children and extended family. They resided in Provo for 17 years and then moved to Orem, where they have resided since 2002. Mom worked at BYU Print Services for 10 years after their move to Provo and enjoyed her associations there.
Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Ward Relief Society, Primary and Young Women's Presidents as well as in many other callings. She was a wonderful example to us of one who served with her whole heart wherever she was asked. She and Dad served a mission together to Cape Town, South Africa from January 1996 to July 1997.
Mom was a wonderful wife and mother, always turning a house into a warm, beautiful home wherever we lived. She was a stay at home mom, always there when we came home from school and our other activities, and we knew she loved us. She was a loyal friend to all and was often referred to as "Sweet Ann."
Mom is survived by her husband, Larry; her children: Kenneth (Laurie), Mercer Island, WA; Allen (Heather), Erie, CO; and Lisa (Ken) Gibby, Saratoga Springs, Utah and 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lorrayne (Olen) Ward, Boise, Idaho, presently serving an LDS Church Mission in Zimbabwe, Africa. Ginger (Wallace) James, Murray, Utah and 2 brothers, Ruel (Kay) Barker, Provo and Ray (Sara) Barker, Moscow, Idaho and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her granddaughter, Michelle Ann Tracy.
We would like to thank First Choice Home Health & Hospice for their tender care for mom, which helped to make her passing more comfortable.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 18th, 2005, at the Lakeview Stake Center, 400 West 1800 South, Orem. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Graveside services will be Saturday, November 19th, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. in the Almo, Idaho Cemetery, where interment will take place.
