50th ANNIVERSARY

August 25, 1886, "MR" Montezuma Republic or a Malcom, IA newspaper, Thanks to Sandy C. for sharing this article:

50th ANNIVERSARY
The fiftieth anniversary of Jacob Harmon and wife was celebrated in a propitious way at their home in Sheridan township, Wednesday, August 18th. There were many things which made it a pleasant occasion. The day was beautiful and the attendance was large, being about 65 in all. All their children, Joseph (sic/Jonas) Harman and wife, from Kansas, Henry Harman, from Dakota, John Harman and wife from Kansas, Mrs. Susan Rehberg and J. W. Harman and wife were present, besides a number of near relatives and old friends and neighbors; and last, but not least, a sumptuous dinner of the richest viands that could be prepared was served in an elaborate way, in the leafy grove. Father and Mother Harman are in their 75th year, and in good health and comfortable circumstances. They have resided at their present home nearly 30 years. They have been industrious and are honored and respected by all who know them.
